What is Heavy Fabrication? Well basically heavy fabrication is the process which creates heavy metal parts and components used in infrastructures and buildings. The process of heavy fabrication is something done by heavy fabrication companies and not just any fabrication shop. To be able to work on heavy fabrication requires the right heavy equipment and fabricators who have a lot of experience in working these equipments to be able to properly produce the needed parts and components with precision quality.
One might wonder, what is the significance of heavy fabrication? Can we do without it? Well heavy fabrication isn’t something that has been around since the dawn of man. Maybe you also have had the opportunity to see that building while it was still in the process of construction and when the lot was still bare. Have you ever wondered how something like that actually gets built and put up over a certain span of time? Now in order for a construction project to actually begin, the people behind it must coordinate with a heavy fabrication company to manufacture and provide the heavy parts and components that it needs to build. So to understand better, let’s take a look at how heavy fabrication companies actually cater to the needs of a large construction project and fabricate the components that it needs.
Heavy fabrication companies work with metal and turn it into the final product that is to be used in construction projects which eventually becomes the building or infrastructure itself. To begin, the metal goes through the primary process which is cutting. The metal itself is cut down into the right shape and size making it much easier to work with, in the following process. After the metal is cut down, it can be bended or rolled if the product needed has curve and bends like a pipe.
If there is a need to secure the metal to other pieces, it will undergo punching or drilling to create holes for bolts to go through. When joints and fittings have to be attached together, these are welded together creating a strong and secure connection. After which, the entire product can be painted to a desired color if specified by the client. Then the component leaves the Heavy Fabrication facility and sent to the construction site.
So whenever you see a large building or infrastructure, keep in mind it was just once a piece of metal molded and shaped to the way it is.
